Location Finding |

Undoubtedly the hardest job of all is finding the ideal property. With millions of properties on the market and now thousands of estate agents proffering them, the process has become a minefield. Fraught with sadly too many unscrupulous agents wasting your time, showing unsuitable or unlicensed properties, perhaps with the wrong paperwork, even, and quite often, the wrong seller. It has become almost a military operation planning your trip to Spain to see a handful of potentials that appear to fit both your budget and sensibilities. Only to be left disappointed by the end of the week. We are not estate agents. We work exclusively on behalf of the buyer, and while we admit to using estate agents, they are carefully chosen, and we endeavour to sift through their portfolio before even considering a visit.

More often than not, we try and use local corredores (or literally runners - an old Spanish term) within each village, or private contacts to find what our clients are after. Initial conversations establish your budget and a detailed description of what you are after. We advise you of our realistic opinion of your chances, and perhaps come up with other suggestions on area, or property type. Having lived between us in four of the eight Andalucian provinces - and having visited extensively the other four in our work travel writing, hotel inspecting and managing projects - we think we have a pretty good grasp of the region, both in terms of property styles, stock and price. |

We know the honey pots where the tourists swarm, and we know of plenty of the small, hidden gems off-the-beaten track that few people have heard of. We know which areas are already overpriced and others which are still at fantastic entry-level prices. There are many excellent investments to be had in the interior in the places you might least imagine. Moreover we are convinced that there is more money to be made from the sensitive, careful renovation of old properties than from the enormously over-subscribed and overpriced modern tourist developments, such as on golf courses. Due to the individual nature of each projct, we develop a different pricing structure for each client. Please contact us for more information. In addition we can use the services of a respected architect in sustainability and conservation to cast her eyes over both the property and the ensuing plans. This will – and has already – proven invaluable in saving both money and the character of properties. |
